Drawing inspiration from American Roots Music, a mélange
of European stylings, the rhythms of Latin America, the melodies of the
wandering Romany (Gypsy) peoples, and traditional folk & rock styles
from the great American Songbook, The Hi-Flyers have forged a sophisticated
yet down home style all their own.
Whether entertaining an intimate party crowd
or a festival crowd of 10,000, these gifted multi-instrumentalists are
masters at bridging the gulf between stage and audience, welcoming everyone
into the good-time global atmosphere they create with their musicianship
and their natural flair for spontaneous humor and energetic tunes.
Their repertoire is an amalgam of Swing,
Hot Fiddle Tunes, Cajun, Western Swing, Acoustic Rock, Rhythm & Blues
with a dose of ethnic melodies. They perform an eclectic range of American
Roots Music at clubs, concerts, party events, dances, weddings and brunches
and are extremely versatile and can perform an acoustic strolling act
or do a dynamite stage show.
They even can do a Mexican Mariachi
repertoire in full costuming.
The trio is composed of:
Frank Orsini (fiddle, mandolin, vocals):
One of the Northeast's acknowledged masters of violin styles ranging from
Jazz to Bluegrass to folk and ethnic stylings.
Don Young (guitar and vocals): Currently
also performs with longtime area favorites Doc Scanlon's Rhythm Boys and
a former member of the Stony Creek Band.
Reggie Scanlon (string bass, vocals):
Founder of Doc Scanlon's Rhythm Boys and currently with that band as well
as Reggie's Red Hot Feetwarmers, house New Orleans Dixieland Jazz band
at the Saratoga Race Track every Summer season.
They can also be augmented by a second violinist,
a pedal steel guitar, and/or a drummer for a high-powered dance event
